- Zverev beat Ben Shelton in four sets Sunday at Flushing Meadows for his second major title, after the French Open in June.
- Jannik Sinner remains the Australian Open favorite at +100, with Carlos Alcaraz next at +150 and Novak Djokovic out to +1600.
- Elena Rybakina’s Australian Open price shortened from +400 to +300 after she beat Aryna Sabalenka for her first US Open title.
NEW YORK – Alexander Zverev is +700 to win the 2027 Australian Open at Bovada, half the +1400 he carried a week ago, before he beat Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6 (2), 5-7, 6-2 in Sunday’s US Open final for his second Grand Slam title.
A Second Major, On A Different Surface
Zverev beat Shelton in four sets Sunday at Flushing Meadows, adding a hard-court major to the French Open he won on clay in June. It is his second Grand Slam title from six finals since 2020, after runner-up finishes at the 2020 US Open, the 2024 French Open, the 2025 Australian Open and this year’s Wimbledon. The win produced the biggest swing on the 2027 Australian Open board at sportsbooks this week.
That 2025 final is the closest match for what Bovada is now pricing. Sinner beat Zverev in straight sets for that title, and Alcaraz beat him in this January’s semifinal, a five-set, five-hour match that stands as the longest semifinal in the tournament’s history.
A fresh hard-court title does not erase either loss. It does give the book a reason to treat Zverev as a real factor in Melbourne rather than an also-ran, and his price moved from a rank outsider to a clear third choice.
Sinner And Alcaraz Still Price Ahead
The rest of the board moved in smaller steps. Sinner shortened from +110 to +100, while Alcaraz drifted from +125 to +150. Djokovic moved furthest in the wrong direction, from +1000 to +1600, and now sits behind Zverev. The top of the men’s board at Bovada’s sportsbook:
| Player | Odds | Implies |
|---|---|---|
| Jannik Sinner | +100 | 50.0% |
| Carlos Alcaraz | +150 | 40.0% |
| Alexander Zverev | +700 | 12.5% |
| Novak Djokovic | +1600 | 5.9% |
| Ben Shelton | +2000 | 4.8% |
Even at half his old number, Zverev sits well behind the top two. A $100 ticket on him returns $700 in profit, against $100 on Sinner and $150 on Alcaraz, and that gap says the book still treats Melbourne as a two-player race with Zverev the best of the rest. Shelton, the beaten finalist, sits at +2000, nearly three times Zverev’s number.
Rybakina’s Price Moved For The Same Reason
The women’s board moved the same way after Rybakina beat Sabalenka 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 in Saturday’s US Open final for her first title at Flushing Meadows and third major overall. Rybakina’s Australian Open price shortened from +400 to +300. Sabalenka is the favorite at +175 despite the loss, with Rybakina now second ahead of Iga Swiatek at +500. French Open champion Mirra Andreeva moved from +1800 to +1200 on the boards at USA gambling sites.
