JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi casinos won $208,698,868 in July, down 0.9% from a year earlier, as a small gain on slot machines failed to cover a 7% drop at the table games, the Mississippi Gaming Commission reported Aug. 19.
Fewer Machines, Slightly More Slot Revenue
Statewide slot win reached $177,288,882 in the commission’s slots win report, up 0.4% from $176,498,674 in July 2025, on coin-in of $2,282,301,343. The floors producing that money were smaller. The commission counted 19,643 slot units in its July win report against 20,578 a year earlier, a reduction of 935 machines, or 4.5%.
Coin-in still rose 0.9% across the shrunken floor, and win per unit climbed 5.2% to $9,025.55 from $8,577.06. The statewide slot win percentage was 7.77%, against 7.80% in July 2025, so the improvement came from volume per machine rather than from a harder hold.
Penny denominations, including penny progressives, produced $139.2 million of the month’s slot win, roughly 78.5% of the statewide total. Those floors carry the only regulated slot machines in Mississippi. Residents who play a slot on a phone are playing at offshore USA gambling sites that the commission does not license.
Table Games Lost A Point Of Hold
The commission’s tables hold report shows hold of $26,255,337, down 7% from $28,217,663. Player activity did not fall anywhere near that far. Table drop, the money exchanged for chips, was $156,477,103, down 1.2% from $158,452,789.
What moved was the hold rate, which slipped to 16.78% from 17.81%. Applying last July’s rate to this July’s drop yields about $27.87 million, some $1.6 million above what the casinos reported. On those numbers, roughly four-fifths of the table decline traces to the hold percentage rather than to reduced play. The state carried 634 tables, 20 fewer than a year earlier.
Blackjack remained the largest table game by drop at $57.3 million statewide, holding just under $10 million. Mini baccarat, offered only on the coast, drew $41,119,606 in drop and held 9.72%, the softest rate of any listed game. Mississippi does not appear among the states with online casinos, so both games are dealt only on casino floors.
The Northern Region Is Carrying The Year’s Decline
The commission’s monthly casino adjusted gross gaming revenue table puts the Coastal region at $137,026,258, down 1.8%. The Northern region, anchored by the Tunica properties, fell 2.3% to $44,397,010. The Central region was the only one to grow, rising 6.2% to $27,275,600.
Seven months in, the divergence is wider than any single month suggests. Statewide revenue of $1,421,049,286 through July trails last year’s $1,428,634,007 by 0.5%. Inside that near-flat total, the Coastal region is up 1.8% at $946,373,401 and the Central region is down 0.3% at $188,472,553, while the Northern region has fallen 7.8%, to $286,203,332 from $310,319,051.
Retail Sportsbook Revenue Fell 38%
Bettors wrote $12,998,850 at Mississippi sportsbooks in July and the books kept $1,625,020, a win rate of 12.50%, the commission’s July sports wagering report shows. A year earlier the same report recorded $15,036,553 written and $2,625,779 kept at a 17.46% win rate. Revenue therefore fell 38.1% on 13.6% less money wagered, and came to less than 0.8% of the state’s gaming revenue for the month.
Parlay cards supplied $836,771 of that sportsbook revenue, more than half the total, on $3,420,157 written. Baseball attracted the most money at $4,832,977 and returned $350,488. Football, in its offseason, drew $145,068 statewide.
The report carries no online line. Mississippi’s sportsbooks accept wagers on casino premises only, which keeps the state off the list of states with online sports betting.
The commission’s revenue table carries a standing note that all figures remain subject to amendment for adjustments made to prior months. August figures publish next month.
