Floors Swing $101.3 Million, Online Holds A $25.1 Million Range

The floors’ monthly win has ranged from $202.9 million in February to $304.2 million in July, a $101.3 million swing. Online win stayed between $251.8 million and $276.9 million, a $25.1 million range, so the monthly lead has moved with the floors rather than with online. September’s $227.8 million was the floors’ third-lowest month of the year, while online’s $274.8 million was its third-highest, behind July’s $276.9 million and May’s $276.3 million.

The nine-month internet gaming total stands at $2.40 billion, a 13.2% increase from $2.12 billion, against $2.24 billion in casino win, which is up 1.4%.

Online Gains Outweigh Declines Elsewhere

The division put total gaming revenue at $579.6 million for September, a 2.8% increase. Internet gaming supplied $31.7 million of growth. Casino win slipped $2.9 million, and sports wagering revenue dropped to $77.0 million, a 14.3% decline.

Without internet gaming, total revenue would have dropped about $15.8 million.

Internet gaming win also counts New Jersey online poker, where peer-to-peer play won $2.34 million, down 5.2%. The rest of the figure, $272.4 million, rose 13.2%. The release joins the monthly state filings tracked across USA gambling sites.

Internet Gaming Paid 3.7 Times The Floors’ Taxes

Internet gaming generated $61.1 million in taxes in September, the division’s tax table shows, against $16.6 million in casino taxes from the floors. That is about 3.7 times the floors’ tax on win that was only about 1.2 times as large.

Online pays a 19.75% gross revenue tax, $54.3 million for the month, and a 2.5% investment alternative tax, $6.9 million. The floors pay 8%, $13.7 million, and 1.25%, $2.8 million, and a footnote in the division’s tax table says the floors’ gross revenue tax figure reflects the tax effect of promotional gaming credits.

Through September, internet gaming has produced $534.5 million in taxes against $164.0 million from the floors. State law routes both investment alternative taxes through the Atlantic City PILOT statute, the city’s payment-in-lieu-of-taxes law, and the division’s recipient table lists $9.7 million in Atlantic City PILOT investment alternative taxes for September.

The division’s October report is next.
